How To's

I'm going to update this area occasionally with things I have found that brought me to a higher level of enlightenment (yeah, I know that sounds all spiritual & guru-ish) but THAT IS SO NOT ME!!!!! What I mean is, I'll share things I found along the way that got me through a day, a week - sometimes, even a measly hour. Maybe they'll be funny words of wisdom, perhaps some ideas will be deep and others, who knows - let's not set anything in stone? Let's start and see where it leads. So I bring to you, my section of favorite things.

I Hope I Screw This Up: How Falling In Love with Your Fears Can Change the World

The book above is by, a comedian named Kyle Cease -his book kinda sealed the deal for me. I was already on a path where I was ready to get my mind and surroundings clear and clutter free. I'm almost ashamed to admit it, but I found one of his videos on a sponsored Facebook post, which had a video that I was compelled to play. I enjoyed it so much because it was honest, non-judgmental and spoke directly to me. It also cleverly led me to his site where I was able to watch some videos and hear more about his book aptly named "I Hope I Screw This Up". Needless to say, I actually had my husband buy me the book, GET THIS - as a Mother's Day gift. Hook, line, sinker. I was already excited and secretly hoping that I could also, somehow screw this up too

Kyle, (because after obsessively watching his website, his YouTube channel and finally reading his book, I feel I'm on a first name basis with him now) breaks stuff down for you Barney-style. His book is funny, witty, catches you off guard and features weird things to throw you off track and snag your attention, like having chapters that aren't actual chapters and pictures of a baby in a burrito (see now you NEED the book so you know what I'm talking about). Kyle starts his first chapter explaining how he simply tried to avoid writing the book to begin with. He explains how and why he avoided things and before you even know what's happening, everything he is saying directly resonated to me on various levels. This spark just comes alive when someone is saying the exact same types of things you have experienced, but goes on to uncover WHY your feeling that way.

This book made me re-think a lot of things in my life in such a positive way, a way that made me feel creative and open and just READY for something new. Honestly, it's one of the reasons I decided to start tinkering with this blog again. I decided to stop trying so hard to do things the old way and just start being me. It'll take awhile for me to get fully there, but I'm on the path, my path.....which isn't going to be the same as yours. If you are looking for a great "How To" in life, start with that book.
